About

In late 2007, a group of approximately 15 libraries joined together to provide downloadable audio book service to the State of Vermont. The Green Mountain Library Consortium was born from these initial meetings, and now has over 125 members from public, school, academic, and special libraries, with a service population of over 340,000.

Our mission is to provide Vermont’s libraries access to goods and services otherwise unattainable, through the power of partnerships and collective purchasing. This is summed up in the consortium’s tagline: Vermont Libraries, Working Together.

The Board of Directors of the GMLC for 2009 are as follows:

  • Lucinda Walker, secretary, Norwich Public Library (term expires 2012)
  • Judah Hamer, treasurer, Ilsley Public Library(term expires 2010)
  • Stephanie Chase, president, Stowe Free Library(term expires 2011)

The GMLC is in the process of obtaining federal 501(c)3 status.

  • I am looking for a search function for the blog and cannot find one. If I am just missing it, let me know. Otherwise I would find it very useful if you could add it to the blog layout.

    I have 2 mac computers
    I can’t use your site?

  • I have a Mac at home, too! OverDrive, the company that provides the platform for our downloadable audio collection, is working on Mac compatibility and I hope it will be in place before the end of the year.

In the meantime, you could visit your local library, where you may be able to download, or download your titles at work (which is what I do).
